I'd post my thoughts about this, but you wouldn't like it.

I would, try me. Is it because we lack women to light up our lives?

Although I don't doubt the facts of what a lot of people feel about Rolla, everything is what you make of it. Rolla was the best overall time in my life (so far). I even stayed for grad school just to stick around longer. Hell, I used to come back 1-3 weeks early every August just because I was so bored back at home. Maybe it's because I didn't really keep up with anyone from high school, and maybe it's because kept a full plate of things to do, but overall it was great.

I think the number one thing that can make it great is having a lot of friends live near you (floor/house) so you always have something going on. The only time I felt really bad in Rolla was one summer that I stayed and had no-one at all to hang out with or even talk to for weeks on end. Seriously, when you go to bed at night and the elevator is still waiting on the 8th floor the next morning, you know you're all alone.

There's probably not much point to my post except to give hope to freshmen who haven't found their place in the social circle of college yet.

I've no major complaints about UMR and am glad I made a decision to go here.

No problem, the fact I didn't pick up on it is inexcusable. Read the books AND saw the (new) movie.

Maybe it at least proves UMR isn't right for everyone...

I'll tell you what's wrong with this place. There's a grad student being interviewed on KY3 who's upset because he couldn't take his test today. That's dedication there.

It's not so much dedication to the test, but the weeks of preparation that went into the aftertest party for surviving said test. If I planned it and had my test pushed back, I'd be pissed too.
