I heard the Carnster proposed to StuCo that next year, they could have a full week off for the 100th annual best ever, but after that, they would eliminate the St Pats break altogether.
Any validity?
If so.... wait, no, it doesn't matter if he did this or not, he is still a TOOL SHED....

Part of me couldn't care less, because I graduate next year and it wouldn't affect me, but the rest of me knows that St. Pats is tradition, and taking it away would just simply be wrong.
I say move spring break up a week, so we don't have this week in between, which is a pretty useless week.

nobody would stick around for St. Pats then. plus the way it is now we get an extra weekend between the 2 holidays. if st. pats and break were combined there'd basically be break + 2 days off instead of break + 2days + weekend off
although everything else i agree with

Concurrence. That is exactly what my fiance and I were talking about.
amd, I still think the majority of the partiers would stay up here for St Pats, But that is a good point on the weekend thing....

No matter which way you spin it, we still spend more time in class than any other university in the area that I know of. We don't even get some federal holidays off. Instead of taking away our "spring recess" let's have every st pats be a full week off, PLUS spring break the next week. It would give upperclassmen a better chance to get interviews in and give everyone a chance to keep UMR's one fun tradition alive.

getting rid of St. Pat's break is a bad idea, being able to relax in town and have a good time halfway through the semester is good. Its something you can't get from spring break because everyone leaves town.
I know it is only two days off, and we would probably get two other days off elsewhere, I still like the atmosphere that is created.
If they take away spring recesses its not going to stop anyone from celebrating St. Pats, People will simply come to class wasted.

Ya they will, its the 100th annual the only thing I see canceling it forever is the aftermath of the events themselves, nothing before.
I don't see how they'd even be able to cancel it even after the events themselves. In past St. Pat's celebrations there have been actual deaths from either hazing or other random acts of stupidity and St. Pat's has lived on, so if they're going to cancel it there better be an actual "terror attack" happen or something of ridiculious proportion.
