I have to take Statistics to graduate next semester and I was wondering which one I want to take. Which one is easier, has better tests, homeworks, teachers, etc?

I am going to vote for NOT 343. I took that in place of 215 for my CompSci stat elective, and it is much harder than I thought it would be. Not impossible though, but definetly a good chunk of work.

213 is incredibly easy. When I had it a grad student named Patrik Czornik taught it. A different teacher could probably make it hard if they wanted too, but otherwise the actual material is cake.

Agreed, 213 was simplistic.

I had 217 with Akers and it was pud. I hardly ever did the homework, and pulled an A without a whole lot of work.

^^^ It is the hardest Stat class (which may not be saying much), but with Akers the class is very enjoyable. It's arguably the best class I've taken at UMR so far.

I had 215 with Xuerong Wen. The material was pretty easy, understanding her very low voice in Shrenk G-3 was not. Got an A without much more than an hour or so a week in homework. The class was ok, but I would not reccomend this instructor.

213 is literally the easiest math class you will take since algebra. Knew about 75% of the class from common sense and just what you know about probability already.

Yeah, that's the one I'm taking. So Akers makes it easy eh? I'll look for him in the future...

Akers is my favorite teacher of all. He's the best teacher I've ever had. I thought the class was pretty easy, but I did the homework every day so that I could be up to speed. I don't think the homework was collected when I took the class. I know the vote is 213/215 but if you have the option of taking 217, don't let the reputation of it being harder than the others make you not want to take it. The fact that it's known as being harder than the others just means you can actually use what you learn some day. Akers was always saying how the stuff he was going over could actually be used at a job and it always made sense. And he knows what he's talking about. Save your stat book!

I had 215 with her too, and the class was insanely easy.

Then I took 343 with her, and wanted to kill myself.
