I came across this a while ago and learned some things, and just thought it would be enlightening to people. Basically the gist is that if you're getting arrested you can't talk your way out of it, that's what court is for.
Also, when they ask you questions you basically don't have to answer them other than what your name and address are.
In Missouri, after being given the implied consent warning and asked to submit to a chemical test, you have 20 minutes to contact an attorney and decide whether or not you'd like to refuse the test. Of course if you refuse, you're basically screwed anyway, and if you've had a bit much to drink, the extra 20 minutes probably isn't going to help you lower your BAC much, but it's also something the officer won't advise you of, so I thought it was interesting. (Best option is probably not to drink and drive in the first place, but yeah...)
The things you learn when you're bored over the summer and decide to browse through Missouri statutes...
yeah => the cop's a real asshole. seems ood that the kid started filming it though... he should have stood up for himself more.
If you look around the tubes, there's reports that the kid has had odd encounters with the law before, so he started recording everything. About a year ago, he had a similar run in at a drunk check point that was all recorded.
the st. robert police story has been on the news the past couple nights because of this video. the cop in the video is on unpaid suspension, and though i didn't see the news tonight, i heard the chief of the dept is also under investigation.

I do recall the extra 20 minutes and if I'm not mistaken, there is a procedure that will give you an extra hour to an hour and half before they actually get to test you for your BAC. I can't remember if I read this or heard, but there are some pretty sneaky ways around it to help lower your BAC before they actually test you.

If I recall correctly, you can refuse a portable breathalyser test without that counting against you. So that might buy you at least the time it takes to get to the station and such. I don't think I've ever heard anything about an extra 1-1.5 hours though. I'd be interested to hear more about that. I know you can request to have an independent test conducted in addition to the test they conduct, but you have to arrange that yourself, and I believe they only allow that after they've conducted the official test.
