My suitemates and I play TF2 quite a bit. If your server had a decent number of people on it when we got on to play, we'd probably join it above any others.

A firewall is blocking the Steam Content Servers? Try looking for the ports that the Steam Content Servers use and make sure that they are forwarded. Then again you might want to call the guys that run UMR's network and see what they can do if it isn't your computer and/or router. In order for me to setup a BF2 server through my router at home I needed to forward 3547 ports (no joke but it was only 11 separate port ranges) to make it work.

Did this ever happen? A few weeks ago I was getting the same error as you whenever I tried, but I just tried a few minutes ago and it worked just fine. I can't actually host a dedicated server on my laptop (just saying that it works now), but I still think it'd be a fun idea if someone could.

Can the server be accessed from outside of ResNet? I don't have the game, but hopefully the holiday season will convince me to buy stuff I don't actually have the money for, and then I would love to play.
