So, it's been released. Wal-Mart had a good turnout at midnight, so I know someone out there has been playing.

Thoughts?

Criticisms?

Friend Codes?

On a whole, I love the game. Absolutely brilliant. The Subspace Emissary thing was a bit too long in my opinion (though even that wasn't bad since we had five people cycling through the two spots).

Sonic is my character (has been for yeeeeears), but I have to confess I think he's a little bit broken.

As always most of the levels are terrible. But it's going to take a while before you find out which characters are the new fox, falco, or shiek.

Bad thing about console games - no patches. Hopefully the game is balanced at release.

fixed

With XBL and PSN, patches are easy to send out. The wii could probably do it with they're channels, but I haven't heard of anything of the sorts.

No game is perfect. Even if the characters are fairly balanced, there will be exploits that will be uncovered.

I also hear that online play is really laggy (which probably can be fixed on Nintendo's side). I hope that Nintendo will figure out some way to patch the game, because I would love to play online and not get my ass kicked by anyone taking advantage of the exploits.

On the note of exploits, I really wish they could have thought up a better way to eliminate wave dashing than removing the movement aspect of air dodging. Sometimes it was better to air dodge up to the ledge or air dodge down to the ground to avoid attacks and by removing that they removed one of the technical aspects of the game.

We're still trying to get our Wii onto the internet. So, no luck yet.

The only way we've been able to get our wii onto the internet was to have it connect to our own wireless router, not to MST's wireless network. But even with that working, I can spectate online matches in brawl, but every single time I try to play in one the connection get's disconnected.

The Wii doesn't work with wireless on the MST network due to incompatibilities with the Cisco routers and the channels that are used to broadcast. There are options, like getting a wireless router, or finding a USB ethernet adapter. I've seen them range from about $15-$25 with the $25 one being Nintendo's own adapter. Just options to throw out there and a non-official statement about why the Wii doesn't like the MST network (my own findings from searching Nintendo help).

As for the game, I love it. I've yet to try to connect from my house (off-campus) to an online game, but I've heard that Nintendo's servers just aren't able to handle the load atm.

We've got the USB Ethernet dongle for our Wii, and we still can't get it online. Perhaps we're just idiots.

Either way, in our room, we're fairly close to having completed all of the challenges in the vault, and are only disappointed by the fact that the game's save data is copy-protected, and only one guy can have all our data.
