So, who enjoyed the new Stargate Movie entitled Stargate: The Ark of Truth? I know I did. I definitely cannot wait for the second one. Mainly because it has Richard Dean Anderson as a lead character. YAY!!! I would really enjoy other peoples takes on the movie.

Eh, I thought it was pretty good, but certainly had serious flaws. I won't spoil it for anybody, but one enemy that shows up part way through the movie really just doesn't need to.

I don't know how I feel about Continuum, I mean seriously? Another time travel storyline?

I really liked it. It did feel kind of just like a double length SG-1 episode, but for me that's a positive. Though some of my roommates wanted more of a big movie feel I guess. Overall I thought it was a fitting and believable end to that story arc and even the enemy that showed back up in the middle didn't bother me, it was still interesting and they did it in a believable way. In the stargate universe the IOA is pretty short-sighted and it does strike me as the type of stunt they'd pull.

And on Continuum, I know time travel's been done a lot, but I still like it. And this movie is supposed to have O'Neill and Baal in it, 2 of my favorite characters. Time travel just gives a good opportunity to see a lot of old friends and foes we haven't seen in years maybe, so I think it fits as a potential last story for SG-1. Also, apparently, even after the resolution of the movie, the storyline has been changed permanently in some way, so I'm kind of curious about that.

I put money on Oneill/Carter relationship is what is changed, even though I think it would kill the series in general.

I quite thoroughly enjoyed The Ark of Truth. Overall, I had found it a little difficult to enjoy seasons 9 and 10, mostly due to management issues and the like. It felt like a storyline that wouldn't get its fair share of airtime, and that's exactly what happened. It's not the writers' fault or anything, but it just didn't have quite the same appeal as the first eight seasons (Jack? Why did you have to quit, Jack? And why did Teal'c have to grow hair!?).

The movie itself was a pleasure to watch, though. They had plenty of time to work on it, polish it up, and make it a strong conclusion to the Ori storyline. I didn't mind, at all, the brief resurrection of our old friends at the hands of our lifelong enemies. It was like the plot twist from hell, and I soaked up every bit of it.

On a whole, it was good to have some classic SG-1-style action and sci-fi, which is something Atlantis seems to be deviating from quite a bit.

Also: Time travel? Bring it on. As long as they don't make it boring as hell like the season finale of Atlantis, that is.

I agree with this. Plus Adria's special effect with her being "on fire"? It was really very well done. I was happy to see Morgan come back and kick some ass. And Teal'c kicking ass, too. It was really just an awesome movie in general.
