They aren't supper picky at the door. I have seen people with sneakers dark slacks and a dress shirt sans tie get in. But ya, bust out the suit...if nothing else they are fun to wear. FYI it is hot as piss usually so do.not.forget.deodorant.

Ditto, the full suit. While technically not required, you won't get anywhere unless you can project a professional demeanor.

You probably won't get anywhere anyway. The career fair is a great place to find out what kinds of potential employers exist, but as for finding a job/interview, MinerJobs through the COC is the way to go. Go to the career fair to find out more about a place you would like to work for, but most importantly, go for the free stuff that they hand out.
That's what I do.

+1
The only company I spoke with at the career fair who actually got in touch with me afterwards to tell me something other than "Sorry, we're not interested" wanted to offer me a helpdesk job in bumfuck Alabama, to which I said no thanks. I ended up getting a job with a company who wasn't at the career fair or on MinerJobs. (or if they were, thtat's not where I first made contact with them at).
I still recommend going to them because you never know when you'll get lucky, but definitely explore other options....don't rely on the career fair

Just keep in mind that the career fair is definetely targeted at the engineering/comp sci/other sciences majors. If you're a humanities major, you'd have better luck through the COC I'd imagine.
Although I hear they're going to have a humanities section at next semester's career fair, so I suppose I'll actually go to that one.
Is everyone saying that the career fair sucks looking for full time or intern positions. I got two internships through the COC job track thing and pretty much nothing from the career fair, but since I am looking for fulltime positions this time I think I might still try it.

Well I'm actually a Business major so I might just pass up the career fair and catch up on some of my homework. lol I'm only looking for a possible internship anyhow as I'm only a junior.

::shrug:: I've pulled (good) offers / interviews (I wear the same thing to these as I do to the career fair) out of every career fair I've been to except for my freshman year... I think they care more about what's on your resume & you rather than what you're wearing or what paper your resume is on...
Personally, I wouldn't want to work somewhere where the dress code requires suits unless I were at a managerial level. Maybe it's my field though - I know some engineering firms are more conservative and require suits.

What you wear to the interview is not necessarily the everyday dress code. I wore a suit to my job interview for the job I have now, but the every day dress code is business casual with jeans on Fridays.
Hell, another place I interviewed at, I wore a suit, but their dress code was basically "don't come to work naked and you'll be OK"
