Okay, the warehouse thing really did have that shitty of an ending. The owner threw away literally everything; even the stuff that took up maybe about 1/50th of the space and we said was valuable. Yay for dumbasses. Oh well, I suppose.
In any case, I've got another load from a closed down corvette dealership. It's all the things that "didn't work" and by that, I mean that didn't start up with windows right away and not be password protected. A lot of the ram and hard drives are gone thanks to the vultures that knew that at least they could grab those if nothing else. However, after a few capacitor swaps (more details on the exact ones by the items) and a little cleaning, absolutely everything I was able to grab now works.
Again, if there's a H by something, then it's at home in STL and will require some heads up. I am planning on going by my house this weekend (1/17) and can grab things then. Other things will be going home this weekend (mostly the small, odd stuff).
As far as prices go, I usually get my basis from ebay and other threads as well as my judgement, but nothing's set (aside from the monitors) so just give me a price.
Racks Units Single 2U rack that's 23" deep and 19" wide (17"). Also black with a 200W psu and the board from the 4U is still available. Also no top for this one. EDIT: I FOUND A KEY FOR IT. If that makes any difference for someone.
Monitors 4x 15" LCD Dell Monitors $50 -3x E153FPc --These had a bad capacitor on the inverter board (controls the backlight) so I replaced that one and a similar one just in case with rubycons. So you shouldn't have any problems with that common failure. If you do, just let me know, I've got more spare caps. -1x E153FPb
I've used the b and two of the c versions over the last three weeks and I haven't noticed any ghosting or stuck pixels. They were mainly used as a secondary monitor to watch movies, check e-mail, and have a visualization for some music.
Laptops Toshiba Satellite 1672CDS -CD-Rom/floppy -900mhz celeron -192mb Ram -battery's pretty much useless (2 min maybe) -1 usb v1.1 -screen has low refresh rate -no hdd -runs 2000 no problem; haven't tried xp on it
Thinkpad 365x Sold -133mhz pentium -40mb Ram -floppy -battery actually holds a pretty good charge -810mb hard drive
Computers HP (Compact)-good for cheap/small network storage H -700mhz Celeron -no hdd or ram (PC133) -CD burner -floppy
Gateway Profile 4 -All-in-one -15" LCD built in -1.7ghz celeron -20bg hdd -256mb DDR 2100 -1 IDE connector -1 hdd bay -integrated graphics (has monitor and vga out) -laptop cd drive w/floppy -6 usb 2.0 -2 firewire -1 pcmcia slot -no power block (ADP-160AB; Gateway p/n 6500683 ~$35+s/h on ebay) http://support.gateway.com/s/Profile/Pr ... sp26.shtml Will most likely get another one of these with the power adapter, but only if I can test this socket A board (check WTB: Various Things).
Hard Drives These hard drives may be good or may not be. The box ripped and they fell for about 3' and I no longer have any way to test them though they all appear fine and don't rattle any more than usual. -4x IBM 36gb P/N 072-000-127 80-pin SCA -1x IBM 18gb P/N 072-000-123 80-pin SCA -5x SCA to 68/50-pin adapters (not sure if they can work with these drives, I've read varying things and also can't test them)
This drive has not been damaged and will spin up with power and give a green status light, but I can't test it in any other way at the moment. -Cheetah 15K.4 ST373454LW 73gb Ultra320 68-pin I paid $150 for it years ago and just never followed up with those plans. I'm certainly not looking to make that back, but I would like something for it (going rate on ebay seems to be about $50 for this particular drive).
Misc. -About 6 packs of 5.25" floppies. -Two ISA cards with an odd looking 26-pin connector. We (as in a guy from Romania and I) think that they might have been custom industrial controller cards for a robotics company in India, but we're not 100% on that. -ISA I/O serial card. -(H)The Sun monitor I have is a GDM-17E10 and there were a few there, some in boxes. -(H)Ultra 1 A11-140 -(H)Custom made Ultra 2 (needs hdd and ram) -(H)APC BE325 (dead batt.) -APC Back-UPS 900 (dead batt.) -(H)Action Laser 1100 could use a new toner cartridge. Other than that, works pretty well.
That's it for now. peace

Mystic, I'm interested in this. You may have just solved my problem. I'm setting up the brains for my parents' new house in the same "soon" timeframe. Used ISP gear is more or less what I've been looking for over the past two months. I'd love to get ahold of a rack/cabinet or two and some telecom toys. The Sun stuff sounds like a win as well.
The downside is that I've been given bupkis to string all this together. I can probably get a pittance to you/the landlord/whomever, but it'll be pretty far below used market value for (guessing) year-old equipment. Still better than pay-to-scrap, right?
My dad commutes to STL during the week, but doesn't get off work until 5. If you're putting together a catalog or photoset or something I can point out what I'd like and have him pick it up.

The company took a lot of the strictly ISP-related gear with them somehow, so there's not a lot of that left, but I'll tell them to keep a look out. Unfortunately, this really is a way to regain some of the lost money for the landlords so I don't know how low they're willing to go.
And just to not confuse anyone, there's really not much in the way (as in maybe not any) of Sun computers, just some spare monitors and keyboards.
It seems that there should be enough interest to keep looking into it. I'll update this thread when they give me more info.

A ) Bump for pics
B ) Just to clarify, this ISP hasn't been doing well for a number of years so almost none of this equipt will be new or really anywhere close. I'm not making any guarantees about the hardware in the racks, but mainly the racks themselves. And yes, there are full servers still there. This is only what I grabbed to fit in my little saturn when I got to rummage through everything. I did grab a few other things, but they're mine. I've got no use for any rack units right now though.

Any word on the UPS's? I would love to have a big ass UPS to protect my computer as well to allow it to shut down correctly when the shit hits the fan. Thanks.
Also, I don't know if you are going to sell those 5.25 floppies or just give them away(They are 5.25 floppies, anyway). I would love to have one or two for vintage sake to stick to the wall above my computer monitors.

I was thinking one free with another purchase and otherwise something like $0.25 per box.
No word yet. I grabbed the only APC Smart-UPS 1400 there since it was the only one that would immediately show that it could hold a charge (like about 15 sec of charging). There are others about the same size, but as of right now I have no idea if any of them work.

Does the 4U accept a standard ATX form factor board, or is it something special? I hope that's not a dumb question but I have no experience with rack mount equipment.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. It appears to be able to accept atx and micro-atx boards as well as the L-shaped board that's currently in it. At least by this standard:
And actually that decoration idea sounds pretty good. I think that I'll do a whole wall of 5.25" floppies (and yes there's more than enough for a few walls I believe). peace
