I just have to ask what the hell happened over the last two years? When I started back in 03, the average price for a new textbook was roughly $120. I haven't shopped at the bookstore on campus for a year and a half out of protest, but found myself in a bind this semester and had to borrow against my student aid to buy books.

I couldn't find a single book for any of my classes that was less than $180 new. Most were pushing $200! WTF? My Columbia College classes were just as bad, both of those books are $175, and those are 8-week classes!! For 18 hours of class, I'm in for $800 on books, and that's even with one class with no book required.

You'd think they'd throw in a free tube of lube if they're gonna ream us that hard.

ChemE doesn't count. Your books contain black voodoo magic and the high price of entry is to deter morons from causing the next anthrax scare.

No tengo mucho dinero, compadre.

I typically do AbeBooks and Amazon and buy the really cheap Indian reprints that smell like rice paddies and DDT. Six bucks and $20 shipping. Or else get two editions old and copy the homework.

Hell I might as well save the cash on the heat transfer book, from what I understand Crosbie teaches out of his fraking head anyway.

I decided to buy two books from the bookstore so I could use them until the ones I ordered online arrive.

After picking up just the two textbooks, both used, it cost $260. Yeah, screw you MS&T Bookstore.

And yes, I realize it's not just MS&T Bookstore's fault. But still... yeah.
