I have an xbox 360 and it is now flashing a red light in the lower right part of the circle. I looked it up online and it says that the video card is bad. This makes sense because it only happens when I have the A/V cord plugged into the back of the xbox.

LB, the 3 year warranty is only for the 3 segment red light error (damn u RRoD). I believe he is only having a 1 segment light error.
mstxj12, I think the only reason you only get the error when the A/V cable is plugged in is because I think the console won't load unless one is plugged in. You should get the 4 segment error without one plugged in. The one segment error seems to be primarily DVD Drive or Hard Drive errors. I can also be a problem with one of the chips on the MB. Do you get any code on the TV screen while the light is blinking? E** or something? It will narrow down your list of possible problems. Also, if nothing shows up, try to get the secondary code of the error. Directions can be found here. Good luck.

Akwardly, that used to happen to my Xbox all the time, but I could just turn it off and back on and it would work. According to the internet, my red ring is cause by graphics problems. Mine is a first gen, and I didn't do anything to fix it, except jiggle the AV cable. We changed the setup of our room, and it sits flat now, and now it never Red rings. As Kingkoopa said though, if the red ring code is due to drive failures then maybe you can give us more info.
Me and my friend just fixed both of ours last night. His had the single red light in the bottom right quadrant, mine had the RROD. If its under warranty, I would sent it back in, cuz this requires opening the case and will void your warranty, but the single red light isn't covered under the warranty I believe. But all you have to do is open the case and take the mother board out and change the heat sink on the CPU and the GPU. They are both designed originally with an X brace that is a flexible heat sink, and you just remove these, get some machine screws/bolts and some nylon and metal washers and some heat sink paste and make it a permanent heat sink. Its pretty simple and its a permanent fix. I just bought a broken elite off ebay and fixed it myself last night. Let me know if you have any questions.

I wouldn't count on that method working. I tried that on my xbox and it didn't help things. I also wouldn't count on that being a permanent fix. Glad it worked for you, but just don't be disappointed when it breaks again.

that's supposed to be a scaler chip error, I believe. What it really means is yours will probably come back to life for a bit, before RRoD'ing soon. At least that's what mine did.

Is there anywhere that I could get this fixed fore somewhat cheap? I don't really want to pay shipping to send it in to Microsoft and pay them to fix it. So i'm trying to find someone around here that could fix it for me.
Those of us who can fix it get kinda weary when it comes to those kinds of things. It's not that it's hard to fix, actually it's pretty easy if you know what your doing but it's one of those things that will break over and over again.
There is no quick fix for what you have, the physical solder joints are going out. We can fix it, but it's not a lifetime fix. Lostboyz and myself have high standards for the work we do, those who have worked with us know that we stand behind what we do 100% but how can we stand by something when it's unfixable in the long run?
It's like those fix-a-flat cans and a flat tire. Yes it'll fix the tire, the tire may even stop loosing air after. It might even last 6 months but in the end, the tire isn't really fixed. It's just a stop-gap.

I agree with Worseley 100% although I am wondering if it still turns on enough to heat up. If it does, you could try to cause a 3 segment RRoD by wrapping in towels and heating it up and cooling it down many times. That should help possibly break the solder joints on the GPU or CPU themselves. That way it is covered under Microsoft's 3 year extended warranty. (Unless you already opened it) Also try leaving it vertical to put a little more lateral stress on the heat sink.
