I think its a shame. He was a kind philanthropist, and made some great contributions to music, dance, and American culture. I don't think media has been very kind to him over the years - he basically withered away and lost his mind. Poor guy. Not that I'm a fan of his rather strange personal life - but you've got to respect his music.
I'll now rip off Twilyte ripping off Dave Chappelle. He made Thriller. ... Thriller.

Little known fact: MJ approved highly of Weird Al making a parody of his music. He allowed Al to use the subway set in that video ^^ and somewhere there is a contract signed by Al and MJ deeming them co-writers of the song "Eat It." Michael one time promised Al that he'd show Al's movie, UHF, at the Neverland Ranch. They had a great relationship.
