The closest AmTrak station is in Jefferson City, and even if you could get there, when you reach St. Louis, you'd be on the wrong side of the city. I think the MetroLink services the AmTrak station there, and I know it goes all the way to the airport, but it likely costs more than the shuttle overall.
Cabs will cost the same, if not more, than the specialized shuttle, if they will even take you that far.
Your best bet is a fellow student. Good luck.

The Greyhound bus goes from Rolla to Lambert Airport. ~$30-$40.
I once rode it from Springfield, MO to STL and back. I think we stopped behind the McDonald's here in Rolla to pick up/drop off passengers. If you choose this route, allow extra time. My buses were consistently behind schedule. We also had a delay in Bourbon because someone bumped the cargo storage door while it was open. The bus itself freaked out and wouldn't start until a technician cleared the error...an hour later.

I would love to help, but sadly, I'll be heading out early Friday. You could rent a car from enterprise (Here in Rolla) and drop it off at the airport. If you want to go that route... its best to get a reservation because their lot is small.
You could also rent a Uhaul truck and just pay the mileage and gas. I don't know what the damage is, but its an alternative in the 11th hour.

The Enterprise here doesn't do one-way. I tried that. If you want it one way, you'd have to get it for the whole time until you can return it. They suggested trying the Hertz in St. Robert.

Welcome to the 21st century of the West. Unlike our european counter-parts, we didn't need to exchange currency, learn different languages, and trudge through centuries of histories of hostilities and/or cultural differences when crossing state lines. Instead, interstate travel boomed during the mid 20's when the vehicle industry began to produce automobiles easily affordable to middle-class citizens. This created a "I travel on my own terms" mentality and nearly destroyed the passenger-train business model. AmTrak barely maintains a profit margin, and can actually cost more than flying in some cases. Couple that with a travel time that is only marginally better than driving yourself, and you have your reason why AmTrak no longer services Rolla, and it did at one time. Just visit the History Museum in Forest Park in St. Louis.
