Could someone gimme a hand on a good place to download some video codecs for the movies on seek? My current project is the codec for the Spiderman vcd mpgs that people have out. I would prefer it not be another full vid program, but I'll take what I can get.

Thanks

Try opening the spider-man files in a DVD player like WinDVD or PowerDVD. Those 'vcd mpgs' are actually SVCD, which is similar to VCD except that it uses MPEG-2 for video compression, like DVDs do.

You also might need to upgrade your Divx codec to Divx 5. This codec should be on seek somewhere...

How did this thread turn to insults... And I did get it to work by both methods. The codecs (I looked for latest divx before posting) and then running the vcd on a virtual cd drive and running power dvd. So thanks for the help.

what do you need codecs for? for the CO part or the DEC part? if you are looking for a coder (as in you want to run a 1.4 gig movie file (spiderman) through a series of video and audio compressions) try a dubbing program like virtual dub. i've got it gammaxi1327download it should be in there. it can compress with any codec you have currently installed on your computer. usually divx and indeo are the best ones... but i don't know about hte quality. i tried to run part one of star wars episode II through a divx codec, but i think i set the bitrate too low and it looked like shit (saved 600 megs though!).

i hope all this "unpleasentness" has passed between all of us here.... oh then again what the hell do i care. it seems like the only thing i use seek42 nowadays is for the forums

Some of the Spiderman copies (as mentioned) are in SVCD format (mpeg-2) if you want a good mpeg-2 player try "el-card" I have it shared on my computer.
