Has anybody had a problem with slow inital response times when accessing network resources with Windows XP. ie. printers, opening workgroup etc.
If anybody knows about this, or has a fix, please post here.

WinXP is basically Win2000 for newbies, though i like the remote desktop program on XPpro.

ya, only if you dont change any of the default settings... otherwise its almost identical to 2000 after a bit of tweaking.

whether or not its like win 2000 is not what I was asking.... I'm just wondering if people have had slow response times in networking, or if there is a fix.

Been using XP Pro. No-tattle corporate version. Works without the problem you mentioned above. Check your Network card drivers. If they're not the XP-approved ones, or some other shit like that, it may be a problem. It may still work with Win2K drivers, but not optimally.

yeah, there is a registry setting that checks the host's scheduled tasks when you connect to their network shares.

and look at the third one down.

NOTE: not everything there is for xp..but close enough
