Does anyone know how to use 2 network cards simultaneously on the same system? Campus has it set up so that you can register multiple cards for one system but nothing on how to set them up so they both access the network/internet in some sort of efficient manner.

I would guess that you would have to download some software to allow your system to utilize both of them simoltaneously. There are programs of the sort out there for running two modems, so I would guess there would be similar ones for network cards.

each data port is 10mbit, if plug each card into a data port, windows xp and linux will do load balancing on them automatically, so you will have 20mbit, instead of 10mbit.

Maybe if he was plugging into 2 different lines. But if there is a hub, he is still splitting a 100Mbp connection. He would need 2 separate lines into the room, and with no roommate.

Assuming you don't have a roommate and both cards are plugged into the wall-jack......
In the dorm, each wall jack goes straight to the switch that serves your subnet. If you're using Linux, read /usr/src/linux/Documentation/networking/bonding.txt. In windows, if you have two intel server cards you can use a program called proset2, free from intel. I don't know how else to do it in windows cause I don't use windows, but maybe someone with some l33t windoze skillz could help you out with that.
I don't know how the fraternaties are set up, and I don't live in the dorm anymore, but it does help there. This could help if your the only person in the room, got a couple of cheap 10/100 network cards you want to use, and want to be admired with all your friends who only have 10mbit, other than that.... I don't really see an advantage to it.
edited cause I'm retarded.

He's in a frat. I don't know the specifics about Triangle's particular set up but one greek house that I know has the rooms more or less hubbed together. You ultimately need lines that run to seperate ports on a switch, which is the case with the wall jacks in the dorms but not necessarily in greek houses.
well i just want to take the time to sit back and reflect upon dark helmet's AWESOME GLORY.
if it wasn't for him we would all be a bunch of fucktards.
jeez man take a deep breath count to 10 and realize that this is you talking and you shouldn't be such an asshole to everyone else
anyway here is my point. i'm pretty sure (just guessing here i don't want anyone to violently prove me wrong) that installing and seting up a second network card, even if it does give you an extra 10 mbps worth of load, is not really worth it. first reason being that 10mbps is PRETTY FUCKING FAST. of course, i come from using AOL and diallup at home ( screw charter communications) and all my bandwidth woes are gone now that i have ethernet. ....
but on the otherhand, being able to say "yo, babe, that's right, TWENTY mbps" to a girl and have her strip for you is pretty neat too.
something else... oh yea. im not exactly sure how its set up, and im not really a "networking" guy, but i was told that in one hallway of my house there is a 100 mbit router, so if you have a 10/100 hub in your room you will get bandwidths in excess of 100 mbit. if anyone (darkhelmet?) wants to prove me wrong please doso in a calm respectable manner.

All the rooms in fraternity houses are hubbed together. (I dont know if hubbed is a word, but it should be...) In our particular house, the two bottom halls have a hub in each. Those two hubs are wired to one giant hub in the upstairs, which in turn goes to campus. I may be a fuckstick retard dimwit, but I have been told by smart people that a 2 people in a room split the bandwith of the one jack. If I am wrong, well, I guess you can get all worked up about it. I find it humorous that you are so passionate about internet speed knowledge. Darkhelmet, I think you might need to crank it or something... you'll feel better.

Sorry, I had just woken up with a huge headache, and didn't really mean to come off sounding like a little bitch. I really should restrict myself from posting anything online anywhere when I'm not completely with it. Again, sorry for offending anyone. I'll go ahead and edit the asshole'ish comments out of my previous post. I didn't mean to start anything this early in the semester.
