(for those who are impatient just go herehttp://g-spot)
Hello all! It is once again time to announce that we here at the G-Spot have a site up and running.
Last year we tried to be an "all encompassing gaming site". But we found it was just too much to swallow. For one thing it had redundant features, like a forum (when we have this great forum right here on seek).
This year we are going for a (much) trimmer look. We are just trying to be your local Rolla Game Matchup service. We might be adding some more features later. But for right now it is just a gamescan and a realtime chat (to facilitate matchmaking).
We are scanning for A LOT more games now than we were last year, here is the list:
Alien Vs Preditor 2 server
America's Army
Descent3 Gamespy Protocol server
Descent3 server
Daikatana
Global Operations server
Gore server
Hexen II server
Half-Life server
Heretic II server
HexenWorld server
Jedi Knight 2 server
Kingpin server
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault server
Never Winter Night Server
Quake server
QuakeWorld server
Quake II server
Quake III: Arena server / Return to Castle Wolfenstein server /Star Trek: Elite Force server
Command and Conquer: Renegade server
Sin server
Shogo: Mobile Armor Division server
Serious Sam server /Serious Sam 2 Server
Soldier of Fortune server
Soldier of Fortune 2 server
Tribes server
Tribes 2 server
Unreal server /Unreal Tournament
V8 Supercar Challenge server
Gamespy Protocol server
If you have any questions or suggestions you can post back here, and I will get back with you as soon as possible. Also - You can catch me in the live chat on the website.
Ok, so after looking at my traffic, and how many people opted in (3 people) - I decided that it should be a mandatory opt-in service (much like seek).
This only makes sense because people who are playing are probably at some point going to run a server, even if it is just for a little while.
If you have any comments on this hit me with an email at dgaston@umr.edu
On a side note: The ammount of traffic generated by g-spot is VERY minimal. It only polls specific ports (one for each game - can be more if people are running multiple servers but that is on a per machine basis) - and it only does it once every 3 minutes. There is ZERO hit to your computer performance or anything like that.
Thanks,
Derek

Yeah, VPN would work if the G-Spot was actually *up*.... (9/7/02 9:20PM)
