I have been messing with the share settings for my computer for quite a while, and i cannot get the permissions set so that computers can query mine, and download files. I have set the permissions for all of my shared folders for read only for EVERYONE, and ANONYMOUS login and NETWORK, but it won't let me share files to anyone. I am always logged in as administrator on my computer. What do i need to trigger on my shares to get them to unconditionally read-only share on my computer??? I wanna share my files, but it won't let me!!!

My guest account is now enabled. I did not realize that it was the default login. I thought that EVERYONE, NETWORK, or ANON would cover it. I guess since i did not know that, i am ignorant of Windows 2000 and should not be allowed to use it.

Since seek42 has not listed my files, access can be provided by visiting kncx911

why do you have win2k if you don't know how to use it?
I can understand not knowing that, but why use win2k if you don't know how to search the net for the answer? There are many, many how to guides for win2k sharing out there...

Sorry i asked! It was just alot easier to post something on here before i went to bed or went to class, and see if i got a response. How do you think i got all the information on everything i currently know? I have all of my knowlege on most anything FROM the internet. I have run 95/98/SE on many computers and also linux on my server for a year, i had just never done networking with 2000 except on a password basis for security. I am also used to messageboards being helpful. I expect too much of people! Damn

On the guest account, check the "Password never expires" and "User cannot change password" options, and leave the password for the guest account blank.
