anyone ever play? it used to be pretty popular back in the day of single line dial up BBSs, and then got a renewed interest when multiplayer ability was added thanks to multiline dial up BBSs, and then again a THIRD time thanks to telnet servers.
i used to play it back in the day, but i haven't found a good game to play. just wondering if anyone knows of a good game and or server
after all this IS rolla, we're supposed to know about nerdy shit like this
is that it takes a lot of people to have a good game. say, 5 corps of 5 people each, and then you have to have all the loser people that my corp picks on. but then again, who knows. maybe rolla is full of cheif warrant officers and galactic scrouges.

A few guys on my floor had a game going last semester. Unfortunately I don't know what happened to the computer that was used as a server.
Decent telnet server programs cost too much money. Well I actually have a license for an OS/2 program, but I don't have OS/2 anymore.
We also played BRE (Barren Realms Elite, if anyone did not know), which is my real interest anyway. Fun times...
yeah, recently (a couple years ago?) EIS interactive purchased the rights to trade wars form the Martin's and turned the MBBS Gold version into a pretty hefty telnet ready client. my friend at vandy has all the software he needs to run a dedicated server, but there's only a couple things missing.
money to register the server. its pretty cheap, like 30 bucks. he will graciously pay this fee to run and sysop his own game(s).
players to play in the server. its hard enough to find a game to play, much less advertise to players to join YOUR game.
static IP -- he's not sure if he has one or not
i can't remember exactly what the new software is called, but its not too expensive.
and i'hve heard of battle realms before but i don't remember which one it was.
my favorites were tw2002, legend of the red dragon, i played a little bit of usurper (never really got into it) and of course, SirDOOM, which let up to four people play a doom2 death match over a multi line BBS!
used to play that game back in the day and i actually looked for it online the other day and i found some sites that have games going but i don't know what the addresses are. I would be interested in playing if you got it started up.
I played it quite a bit at the end of last semester, except I was on a server where only like 3 or 4 people played regularly, and I ended up killing them all. Haven't played since then, but I'd be interested if someone set up a local server.
i used to play (telnet) at twgs.fament.com, they still have a couple games, and it was prety popular (like 35 playersin the MBBS game) back then, and there used to be like 20 people online at a time (they had like 8 different games going) but now when you log on there are 4 others, and no games have been rebanged since early july
