I was arguing with my friend just now about which controller is better,
he says the xbox controller is better than the ps2 controller,
while i disagree with him.
I think that the ps2 controller is the best controller ever built.
Even though this topic has probably been argued several hundred times,
its always good to discuss it again, so
Which controller do you think is better and why?

heck ya. Plus that whole variable speed thing with the mouse... that's why computers will always be the best... variable speed...

gamecube! douy

actually i think the N64 controller was the best. what do i need TWO analog sticks for? the C buttons did the same thing with less clumsiness. and analog trigger buttons? that's pretty pointless too. it's too hard to mash them when trying to shoot a pistol really fast

downside with xbox controller -- after playing for more than 15 minutes my hands start to cramp up (even with the small ones)

downside with the ps2 controller -- buttons can be confusing. i just recently memorized the stupid shapes. why didn't they use LETTERS like every other game system ever made? and even the lettered buttons had numbers on them too. R1 L3 rhombus. just stick with A B C. also round gates on the analog sticks instead of the gates with catches on them so you were sure you were hitting directly up and night a little bit askew

downside to gamecube controller -- trigger buttons are TOO analog, z button is useless, so is the d-pad

i liked the N64 the best for first person shooters... the controller was shaped like you wbere holding a gun pow pow

ps2 controller all the way!

I've learned to love it...and will never stray.

I find the gamecube controller to be very comfortable and almost natural after just a few minutes. By contrast, the XBox controller seems to feel like I'm holding, . . . god only knows what. But that huge logo thing in the middle just doesn't work for me. The N64 was pretty decent, even if it was designed for a three-handed alien. I just wish there was a trigger on the side that the right hand usually gets put on, or they switched the c-buttons and the d-pad's positions. I could never get around trying to shoot in goldeneye with my left index finger. I've only shot with my left hand once in my life. It's just not right for me.

oh, right, the D pad on the left and four buttons in the four cardinal directions on the right. and trigger buttons. nintendo totally copied that from the PSone when the made the super nintendo controller in 1990. they saw plans for sony's future controller when they jumped in a time machine

the PS controller is a SNES controller plus two trigger buttons and two analog sticks. and remember, NO ONE had an analog stick before the N64.

What are you on?

the PC had an analog stick before the super nintendo was released.

And by Nintendo copying off of Sony's controller design, i meant that nintendo took the dual stick design and vastly improved on it.

Im pretty sure the first ataris, (or even the 2600?) had giant joysticks before nintendo was really concieved.

Correct, but these were not analog. They only registered the 4 cardinal directions as input. It was basically a digital pad with a stick on it.
