Just wanting to know people's opinions...

Is it wrong to dye a cat or dog green? Would it be considered animal cruelty? I saw a bunch of dogs and even a cat out by the puck today for the follies and I felt sorry for them with their green fur.

I guess it depends on the dye they use, most likely it's damging to their skin (same reason why you use special dog shampoo instead of human shampoo).

Think that shampoo thing has more to do with how their hair (read as fur) is. No matter how soft your hair is, it isn't as soft as a cats. No matter how horrible your hair is, it isn't as bad as a dogs. Used to have to give my dog a bath at times, and the shampoo I had to use was thinner, more watery than human shampoo.

But ya, dying a cat/dog's fur is a horrible thing to do. Not as bad as a couple of people I've seen (girl running around in green shorts and a bra, her entire body, and bra, painted green. Poor Jessie)

My opinion?
I hate PeTA. Evil originzation, trying to keep people from hunting, fishing, wearing leather/fur, eating meat, even using eggs and dairy products. I love doing all of those things!

Anyway, i think it is a little extreme to dye an animal green, especially if it is harmful to their skin. No way i would dye any of my pets a certian color, they usually don't even wear collars.

I really like PETA. I think they go overboard sometimes, but all they are trying to do is keep animals from suffering. I think that's very noble.

PETA is the number three largest domestic terrorist organization in the United states, behind the Earth Liberation Front and Greenpeace. (http://www.prfamerica.org/EarthLiberati ... IList.html) I am all for preventing mistreatment of animals, but the violent tactics used by these organizations is causing more trouble than it is preventing. The supporting of firebombing of high school and college science labs because they disect cats is extremist and wrong. (http://www.rickross.com/reference/animal/animal65.html) These people think they are helping animals, when they are merely killing humans, and often, more animals than they save. An incident that happened near my home once is that PETA decided to free the turkeys from a turkey farm. However, they didn't think to check that the birds' wings had been clipped, and the turkeys ran into the interstate, where hundreds of them were slaughtered by passing semis.

Besides, these organizations only worry about certain animals, and do not take into account all forms of life. If they did, they would attack Listerine because using mouthwash kills over 1,000,000 living things.

In short, I do not harm any living thing any more than I must to stay healthy. I have no problem eating meat, because I know if our roles were reversed, that animal would have no trouble eating me.

Actually it has something to do with the pH of their skin (learned about it in high-school science 5-6 some-odd years ago). That's why the dye would be bad, because if the pH is horribly off from the animal's skin, it could mess up their skin (try putting bleach on your skin for a few hours). I do agree though, skin-damaging or not it's not fair (I would hate to have my hair dyed green if I wanted it blue or something :D )

I also try not to harm living things unless i plan to use them. Like if i kill a deer i eat the meat, show off the antlers, and save the hide. Looks cool hanging on the wall, the meat tastes good, is free of growth hormones, is non polluting (aka not from an concentrated animal feedlot), and the deer population is controlled.
Some animals are here to be our friends (cats, dogs), other animals are here for us to domescitate and eat (pigs, chickens, cows), and some are for us to hunt (elk, deer, antelope).
Humans, like other animals, are part of the food chain. We just happen to be the top of the food chain 99.9999% of the time :D

Anyway, i don't purposely torture and kill animals for no apparent reason all the time, unlike some people i know/have known, but i do eat animals for my consumption. I love being an ominivoure (sp?)!

Just My Opinion

The cat was dyed with kool-aid, not hair dye. Kool-aid is a remarkably good dye (as many parents discovered to their regret)

If kool-aid could damage an animal's skin, I sincerely doubt that it would be considered safe for human consumption.

Being on a leash probably irritated the cat more than anything else

If PETA ever protests in Rolla I'm going to rent a truck, rack up some dead animals, and have a huge BBQ right next to their rally.

I love people who have absolutely no compassion for other living things. I wish I could barbecue some of you, because I think more highly of the cow sometimes.

Not sure how you consider a truckload of dead animals ready for BBQ to be living things. Are you saying I should have compassion on my food? Why? I'm sure as heck not going to stop eating meat. I have no reason to have compassion for my steak either. While the animal is living is one thing. Once it is dead though, roast it over a fire and stab it with your fork all you want :)
