I like music videos. This is because watching a music video is like watching a movie, except:
  1. it is less time consuming
  2. if it sucks, I don't feel the compulsion to throw my shoes at the screen for paying $8 to see some piece of tripe
  3. black people don't shout at the screen during music videos! ahhhahahaha... oh my... [/not racist]
So this is where you recommend me some music videos. I like interesting ones that have a narrative or coherent story to them, especially ones with a twist (think Just by Radiohead or Smack My Bitch Up by Prodigy). I like a lot of Radiohead videos, come to think of it. Of course, this is about expanding my horizons, so post whatever happens to be your favorite.

The same is true with commercials, by the way. I really like that NutriGrain one.

The best music video ever is the one for Under Pressure by David Bowie and Queen.

Some other classics include:
The first one ever shown on MTV, Video Killed the Radio Star by The Buggles
Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve
Clocks by Coldplay
and just about any video Weird Al has parodied with his own video (I guess you need to watch them both.)

Just about any Tool video is fucking awesome, as well as most A Perfect Circle videos.

My all-time favorite is definitely Can't Stop by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. No doubt the best of all-time. I could watch it for hours on end. It is so interesting and really makes you think about what they could possibly be trying to say with their video. Great video.

Kevin Caldwell's "Phantom of the Opera" set to a background of Katsuhiro Otomo's animated short "magnetic rose." it's like a story within a story. the heavy techno version of the already-creepy "Phantom of the Opera" works great against the dark, mechanical background of a derelict spaceship/mass-grave of an insane opera diva. this has been one of my all-time favorites, and i have watched it for hours.

Loreena McKennitt's "Mummer's Dance" set to the veritable cringe "Princess Mononoke" is far better than you would expect. the celtic rhythm and welsh instruments combine with the dreamy lyrics about the woods and nature to make you forget how horrible the movie was. this is a LOT better if you haven't seen the movie.

Another good one is Stavesacre's "Gold and Silver" set to "The Wings of Honneamise." "Gold and Silver" is a powerful song about sorrow and shelter that works well with the melancholy imagery of Honneamise, as well as the dramatic space shuttle launches. i haven't seen this movie, but the song stands very well by itself.

and despite what you may think, no, i don't particularly care for anime. i don't watch it, it just so happens that of the music videos i've seen, these three are the best and they happen to be animated.

i've got all three, and i'll eventually get around to sharing them, if i don't have them up in a few days, someone shoot me a net-send to the computer naked-prophet which is also where they will be shared.
