I am currently trying to find and download all the FarScape episodes I can. Only problem is, a couple of them won't show the video. It's big enough to have video, and the audio works flawlessly. Is there a way to tell what codec a .mpeg file needs, even if you don't have that codec? I mean, in the properties, it says that they need Divx, but I have the latest up-to-date Divx, and it still won't work, not even in the Divx player. Me thinks someone ripped it and said it needed Divx even though it won't work. Have no clue what's going on. Anyone help?

Look up my comp, \\DosBot , and if you want to test and see what you can do, download FarScape - 1x01 - Premiere and see what you can do.

Uninstall DivX, reboot, and reinstall DivX, reboot again.

It playded fine for me. With DivX player, WMP, WinAmp, MPlayerArc and WinDVD4.

I used a program called GSpot (im not too good at knowing what it tells me and you can dl it off seek) but it told me that I have 4 installed codecs that will play the video, I'll just write what it says, dont ask me what it means.
4CC: DIV3/div4
Name: DivX 3 fast motion
Stat: 4 codecs installed:
1) DivX MPEG-4 Low Motion
2/3) DivX Decoder Filter (says that twice)
4) 3ivx D4 Video Decoder

if its a .mpeg or .mpg, its either mpeg-1 or mpeg-2. divx has nothing to do with it. i would guess its an mpeg2 svcd. in my experience, they play best in a dvd player like powerdvd or windvd, but they are supposed to play ok in wmp as long as you have an mpeg2 codec.

Might give ffdshow and Media Player Classic a try, the combination can usually handle just about anything I throw at it.

Mee suggested WinDVD. I had WinDVD3, but it wouldn't work, so I found on Seek WinDVD5 (plus a .txt with all the shit to register it). Still nothing. Will try to find ffdshow next.

I can play your Farscape - 1x01 - Premiere video just fine. It is definatly divx, the little logo popped up in the corner at the beginning. I got my divx codec from DivXPro 511Bundle and Keygen.zip. Search on seek for it. Hope that helps

I actually had a similar problem though, my computer wont play the sound to blue collar comedy tour. I have the necessary codecs, but still, never any sound, only video.

You probably need the AC3 sound files.

Got it to work, finally. Got the DivXPro bundle (free version from divx.com), and it'll work now with the DivX Player (version 2.5), but not with my WinDVD or with WMP. Oh well, as long as it works!
