Ok, so just before I left school last semester my computer crapped out. In fact it was the day before I left. So I get home and find out its a bad processor. However, I believe its a bad motherboard in actuality because most of the capacitors are leaking and I am assuming its burning out processors. Its the second one I replaced in 3 months. Also my power supply went bad. The voltages were off and some of the caps in there were leaking as well. I also attributed that to my MOBO.

So I got a new MOBO, processor, PS, and am again having problems. When I boot my computer up, windows 2000 starts running and just at the point where that little blue bar across the bottom gets full and I should start seeing a desktop, it flashes a blue screen and reboots the whole computer. Eventually it will start the blue bar and then go to a blue screen and freeze. At first I thought it was where I didnt reformat my hard drive when I got the new motherboard. So I got a new hard drive and started clean. Everything seemed to be working fine. but now its doing it again with the new hard drive.

Some times I can turn off the computer and wait a sec and when I turn it back on, it works.

I dont think its a heat issue as I have a desk fan blowing into the case and everything except the processor is at 90F or below, usually in the low 80s. The processor is at 150F which I think is a little high, but it will do for now.

So my question is what is making the computer reboot?

I've always had problems with windows 2000, problems similar to that with a certain proc/mobo I had.

It's probably bad RAM. If you have multiple sticks, try pulling one out at a time and seeing if it doesn't solve the problem. If you only have one stick, test it with MemTest or a similar program to see if there are any bad modules on it or not.

lame. winXP is win 2000 just more stuff. lol.

Yeah, and that "more stuff" includes hella more hardware compatibility.

Install linux, best hardware compatibility of all.

I think 150F is to warm for boot up, you should fix that soon. What CPU are you using. I know many Athlons will not boot constantly over 55 C and you are at 65 C.

Do you still have that crapped out MOBO, cause I would be interested if you were willing to part with it.

ram or maby not enuff power supply ??
