OK, i built the computer system using the parts in my last post on my "Computer system thoughts" post. I did it myself, with some help putting on the heatsink and had several people look over everything before i fired it up.
We plugged it in and turned it on. Everything seemed to work pretty good, except no signal went to the monitor. No beeps from the computer either. At first we thought the video card was either improperly installed or defective, but after re installing it and putting in a different video card the monitor still didn't get any signal. We also used a different monitor and the same problem occured.
So, we began to think the motherboard was bad (ABIT NF7-S). I removed both sticks of ram, and turned on the computer. No beep telling us that something was wrong. We also reset the BIOS and cleared out the CMOS memory (think it was CMOS...). Same problem. Two lights turn on on the motherboard, a green one and a red one, the red one signaling that power is hooked up to the power supply, and the green one saying that the computer is on when the switch is turned on.
I've talked with several people who know far more about computers than i do, and so far the best diagnossis is that my motherboard is bad from the factory. I've got 30 days to return it to Newegg.
Also, if i had installed the processor wrong somehow, would the computer still beep saying that something was wrong?
Anyway, i'm planning on calling Newegg tomorrow and try to trade this motherboard in for a new one, but would like some more opinions on anything that could be wrong.
I once had a very similar-sounding problem with a computer I put together, and it was the motherboard that was the problem. I'd guess you have about the same thing going on. Look around on the net to see if you can find anything about your motherboard and other people having the same problems.
I thought I had somehow fried my mom's computer after installing a Firewire card because I had jostled the video card a bit. It wouldn't beep, POST, or anything. I swapped processors, but that didn't work. Finally, I said "just for S&G, push in on the video card". That got 'er done.
EDIT: I guess I need to read more carefully, as it looks like you've pretty much covered your ass on the video card front.
get your hands on an old PCI video card and try that.
but definitely return it for a new one.
I think I was the one who first suggested that board, and I can assure you I haven't had any problems with mine.

ok yea when testing the system, do u have any perifial cards installed over the summer i fixed a friends gmas comptuer, which was a dell, their tecs said that the board was fried due to a storm and that wasnt covered under warrenty, after working with it for like 30 minuts, i found that the modem was bad and was preventing the system from booting or self diaging its self, so take out any perifila devices cept the absolute minimum, or just slowly add parts, start with just the ps hooked up, then add cpu, heat and fan if applies, then add one stick of ram, then the other, etc, then the vid card, hdds, cdroms, floppy, and then perifial devices like pci sound modem nic etc.
give that a wirl, and if that doenst get u ne where then yea its prolly the board
if ya want i can take a look see

Well, i think i found the problem. I ripped it apart and it looks like i incorreclty installed the processor. The manual said "ZIF" (zero installation force) so i dropped it in the socket and put on the heat sink, without messing with the lever. I failed to read all of the manual, lol. Like i said, this is the first system i built so i made this mistake out of inexperience. Luckily the processor dosent' appear damaged at all, it slid right back into the socket (no bent pins, thank god!)
I'm going to put the processor back in correctly after cleaning it and the heatsink with carb cleaner, adding new themal paste, and give it a whirl with no cards installed. Just the mobo, memory, and fans.
Jesus man. I know you suck at spelling, but could you please attempt to at least get the spelling relatively close? I had to re-read your post a second time to figure out you meant "peripheral," not "perifial."

I correctly installed the processor, and IT WORKED! It started up and went into BIOS. Now all i need to do is get a cracked copy of XP and try to get the computer working all the way.
I've had problems like this with built computers before. You usually have to take out all other components except what is necessary to install the OS, so no network/modem/sound cards, except for a graphics card which you need to hook up to the monitor. It usually works fine with nothing in the PCI slots, once you installed the operating system, you can install the other components.
