I was just wondering if anyone else is having any troubles with their cpu after dling sp2. I guess i am not having troubles persay but my cpu is running hella slow compared to the speed it ran prior. I defragged disk cleanup and a few other things that i thought might help, but thus far no dice....

I did not literaly mean central processing unit. I meant my cpu as a whole is running slower.

Uh, CPU stands for Central Processing Unit, so did you mean your computer as a whole is running slower? What were the "few other things" that you did?

yes, there are a lot of problems with sp2. articles about it everywhere.

oh, and cpu doesnt mean computer. maybe on an NES game where you choose cpu or human players, but not here.

Oh, yeah, I had similar problems... my CPU lost its air, and then my RAM wouldn't display anything... and a weird noise started coming out of my HD... I think it was Nickleback playing...

that is fine, I was mistaken and thought you might want to change that. I am saying if you want "help" it might be important if you said I have a "dell x-men 50" or a KT-400 chipset or any thing to start with. Like SP2 has changed my display I have an ATI 9700 now I do not have the same video modes on my list. any thing.

The computer is one I built not one that was just bought. Yes the computer is running overall slower then it did prior to sp2. The others things that i did were run bootvis, remove memory allotted to the recycle bin and system restore because sp2 changed all of those settings back. I have a 2.4 ghz amd. But for some reason windows now detects that i have a 1.09ghz. I have a micro-guru AN-7 mobo, i dont know if that matters, a radeon 9800xt, a 400W power supply, and 1 gig of ddr 3200 RAM. If there are any others specs you need ask and i will find them out for you.

well thars the problem. your fsb probably got reset to 100, crank it back up to 133 or 166 depending on which cpu you have.

Just did a fresh install Yesterday with SP2.
No problems here.

There is a glitch with SP2 and AMD 64..
Turn off DEP? I believe........then the conflict wil disappear.
