Any Quake 3 players around campus? I've got a 24 port Netgear so
let's get together and lan sometime.

I can set up a dedicated server if anyone is interested.
I can do about any kind someone wants. Rail server, ctf, etc.

Where/when are you thinking about lanning? I'd like to play. I'm in the palace, so I won't be able to play with you unless I was lanned.. the 3mbit cable connection here doesn't cut it for the 37 computers that are on it. Msg me on AIM e1pupitre if you want to talk about stuff.

I've got no experience with TDM or CTF or insta or any of that, just 1v1 OSP. I hope you guys play OSP. If not and we do a lan or something, I'll just give it to everyone cus it makes the game a lot better. I wouldn't mind trying out CTF, TDM, etc.

What are you used to playing? Have you played competatively?

I'll play you in straight DM TDM OSP InstaGIB 1v1 Rail I used to be good at q3 before I turned into a complete cs whore so after a few games things might get interesting.

what's the difference between OSP and regular quake?

i'll try to get my quake server going again, been awhile
since i've used it under linux.

OSP is to quake3 as tdm (was it tdm?) was to ut2k3. OSP's got some stuff put into it for the competative nature of q3 (i.e. timers, stats, etc etc. ) OSP is basically quake3 (same maps/weapons/gameplay), but with some nice addons.

Did they finally get you all up to the full 3 GB? 'Cause I remember Mop saying earlier this year that is was pretty piss-poor for a while.

Definitely not 3GB. It's 3mbit. And yes, it is piss-poor. My lowest possible ping to any d3 server is generally 250+. It's *never* playable.

OSP is like UTComp (not sure if utcomp is only 2k4 or not) or TCM for ut2k3, you were close heretic.

Yeah--of course going through town traffic, there's no way you all are going to be able to play anything on a UMR server. They were talking about stringing fiberoptic out there last year, but they decided that the cheaper solution--especially since it's always been considered temporary housing--is to do what they're doing.

I remember a lot of the guys last year played MMOs, Starcraft, and Gunbound without any problems. But if your heart's set on CS or UT2k4, you're out.
