I don't think the original complaint was against the people in voyager, but rather against the university for giving special privileges to a certain group. Hell, If voyager was around when i was a freshman, I probably would have joined it, too. I wish the University would help Greeks in their attempts to improve their academic success, and not make voyager some "secretive organization" that we could know nothing of. I know many of us asked campus how we could implement some of the principles of voyager in our houses a full year ago, and all we got was the polite F.O.A.D. (F*** off and die) from campus.

Like communism, The theory behind voyager is a good one, but it goes wrong in the execution. The university needs to try to help all students equally, not only a small niche.

Again, I'm sorry if I've offended any unsuspecting student, my real beef is with UMR.

Thank you for clarifying where the problem is with the program. Speaking as a past Voyager, and someone who still keeps up on the program, I have seen both sides of the argument... This is my thoughts on the subject.

From I have heard, and this is just hear-say... the university plans to slowly expand Voyager so that it encompases the whole freshman class, hence the new goal in Student Affairs of the "Freshman Experience". It was thought that by starting with a small group and seeing where it could go was the best idea. The whole "Voyager Experience" is a big experiment on how to improve first year retention rates. So maybe somewhere down the line it will seem less like the preferential treatment of a small group. But until that goal is reached, the problems will reamin.
