I have a modded xbox and it doesn't work anymore. When I turn it on DVD spins up then it turns off. Then it comes back on by itself, the DVD spins up again and then it turns off. Then it comes on a third time. This time after the DVD spins the xbox stay on and the LED flashes green then red, green then red. I tried disabling the mod chip but that didn't seem to help. Does anyone know how to fix this?

You know what kind of DVD drive you have in there? If it's a Thomson, there's a good chance that it may have gone bad. I had a Thomson with my first Xbox when it crapped out, only mine didn't turn off or flash like yours did. Mine just simply couldn't read the games anymore. Got a second one with a Samsung, and it works very well.

That's called a Frag error. It has nothing to do with the DVD drive. It's from installing a modchip wrong.

As the installer of my mod chip, can you offer me advice on how to fix it?

I'm guessing your modchip worked at one point?....That's the way you made your post sound. Anywho...either way...if you have the chip disconnected...or turned off...and your xbox still gives you the boot twice and then remain on the 3rd time with the red/green flashing LED...then your box is fried. Basically just a large paper weight...I sure hope that isn't your problem.

uhhh.... NO

His box is not fried, he's shorting out the motherboard with the modchip, causing the xbox to frag.

I bet if you turn the modchip off your xbox will work fine right?

Your box isn't fried, it's totally fixable you just didnt' install your chip right.

Worseley...I'm aware of what you're talking about but if you read his post he said

I've seen a board become fried before from a chip not being installed correctly or from accidentally contacting the board in the wrong spot. Anywho....Chad if disabling the chip doesn't work...just try removing it completely to make sure it disconnected.

Good luck!

Usually when this happens it means you have the solderless adapter installed the wrong way.
Assuming you used the solderless adapter, turn it around and see if it works.

If you soldered it...then..well...have fun with that

Edit: Unless it worked before... in that case, something is probably fried. Try removing the mod chip completely. Make sure all the other connects are firmly in place.

There are three little switches on the front. I tried every combination of them and the same thing happens.

How about....which modchip do you have, what version...what version xbox do you have?

Did the modchip ever work?

If you answer some questions...I'll try to help you.
