Tonight the TJ main line had fried chicken. Or, as I like to think of it, fried grease.

My friend from 1 had a chicken breast, and when he pulled the outer skin off, the chicken was raw. It was completely bloody, and uncooked all the way through. No one at the table was very hungry after that one.

Isn't it illegal to serve raw food, especially meat products? Or is this part of the Chartwells master plan to force students to eat less while paying more?

Anyway, it was disgusting. What was worse, they let me walk into the back cooking area to talk to the manager about it. I have medium lenght hair, and I was not wearing a hair net... Just a tad bit unsanitary there.

Can OSHA be called in on Chartwells? If so, they should be.

1. If you have any complaints such as this regarding Chartwells service you can contact the appropriate athority figure in the building (in this case Dana).
2. You may also contact a local hall government member and/or an executive board member and let them know of the problem and they will make sure to allow the food chairs to know of the issue.
3. If you are unsatisfied with the first two options it is 100% within your legal rights to report them to the appropriate authorities if you believe they are violating any laws.

Hope that helps.

Been there, done that, and it's probably not going to change. Three years ago Chartwells served me a batch of uncooked chicken tenders, and that was one of the last times I ate down there. There's not much you can do to get it changed; they'll just give you a runaround when you complain and nothing will ever come of it.

Just be glad you didn't bite into it. I'd have to say raw chicken is one of the grosses things to unknowningly bite into.

Good ol Chartwells. When they first came in they pulled the same shit. Nasty fried chicken that is still raw on the inside and burnt on the outside. I assumed after 4 years the assholes would learn how to cook.

The one organization that every resturant organization (ie: chartwells) fears is a health and safety inspection by the FDA. If you complain enough and find others who complain (especially about the chicken, they love to nail people on poultry), you may just get them a surprise inspection. Surprise inspections are best because they can't clean up before hand. And if they fail, they have to advertise the fact that TJ sucks, and they (ususally) have 30 days to clean up or be shut down.

I'll join you in the complaints on the fried chicken. Same exact thing happened to me last year. Then it happened another time to a couple other guys on my floor. Since then I've avoided the fried chicken down there like the plague.

i know some people in the health department down in springfield... they'll love this one.

last time i played this card, they straightened up for a few weeks, they fired the head chef and brought in Bill to teach the new cook how to cook... then it was back like it used to be.

i raised the issues with the new management, and they told me that i've caused enough trouble and if i complained again, nobody would believe me because i'm just a troublemaker... and i think they may have threatened me. i mean, it wasn't overt or anything, but i didn't feel like they would be happy if i did anything again. i mean, i'm sure they weren't going to beat me up or kill my pet or anything, but the cafeteria management seemed to be intimately connected with the TJ higher-ups as well (like evie) and i'm sure they could have caused some trouble for me.

in the end, i just switched to half points meal plan and ate exclusively pizza and room-food.

It seems to me that just about everyone has a problem with Chartwells. It's not just the typical "cafeteria food sucks" kind of thing either. They seriously do a terrible job at just about everything. If they were a real restaraunt somewhere they would be out of business in a week. And where the heck do they get these worthless employees? I realize some of them do a good job but the majority of them are completely unprofessional. Sometimes I seriously can't beleive how pathetic Chartwells actually is.

They will hire who ever applies. Do you want to work for Chartwells after seeing and eating their food?

So, if Chartwell's did get shut down for health reasons, how the hell would the university go about feeding us? I wonder if there's some sort of precedent for it.

I'd want a refund that is for sure.

I'm up for finding out just who would feed us. I know it was a while back, but They servbed some breaded chicken patties (the kind you absolutly cannot mess up), and they were raw. They were warm, but when you peel back the golden covering to reveal a tenderized mess of pink, purple and blue, you kinda want to throw up. I feel like student council should push (extremely hard) to eliminate the meal-plan requirement.

I remember a year or two ago when I was eating one of their chocolate chip cookies. I broke it apart and there was a box staple inside. I was luck I didn't just bite into it first.
