This should be fun.

I have sharing mostly enabled.

Problem?

Computer either demands a login or throws an access denied to whomever attempts to access my computer.

Any and all advice is welcome. I've tried alot of things. And 'simple' sharing is shut off. This is so I can see NTFS security info on files and folders.

As it is, a shared folder has share access for the 'Everyone' builtin object, and NTFS permissions to read/read+exec/list folder contents.

However since noone can even get access to list my shares, I doubt the folder itself is the issue.

turn "simple" filesharing back on. you are too dumb to do otherwise.

On the topic of sharing, is there a way/program to limit network share's transfer. Also, any way to disallow streaming? :]

In WinXP, there's a tiny option hidden under Administrative Tools.

I'm not on an XP machine at the moment but it's something like

Administrative Tools -> Local Security Settings -> Local Policy-> Security Options

The setting is something like "allow anonymous logins". Enable it.

enable your guest account: already done

allow anonymous logins: its not an option, and there's too many similar options to that.

Pick from one these, all of which I've already messed with:
    * Access this computer from the network. (user list)
    * Deny access to this computer from the network. (user list)
    * Network Access: Do not allow anonymous enumeration of SAM accounts and shares.(true/false)

Already tried enabling simple sharing, no effect. Still have people getting Access Denied.

Managed to fix the error upon attempting to list shares on my computer.

Guest and Everyone have share and permissions access to the folder.

However the shared folder is still "Access Denied"
