when i turned my computer on this morning and got online, it was bombarded by pop-ups. literally 50 adds opened one after the other. soon, some crap was downloaded onto my computer. i think i was able to delete most of the stuff and get the rest with ad-ware and spybot. what what the freaking deal? i recently reformatted but this time didnt install SP2. can that be the problem? has anyone else had this occurance?

the onyl time i ever had 50 popups (i say 50 as a minimum) was when i went to a link and TONS of "you are an idiot" windows started "flying" all over my screen and somewhere in the process a trojan was downloaded, otherwsie id dig up the link so yo ucould see it for yourself, it was funny till nortan found the trojan...

try useing hi-jack this.... but be careful what you "blow up" heh, cause itll completly remove anyhitng you select on this list, helped me get ride of some unwanted right-click-menu items...

Ad-Aware and HiJackThis will get rid of all spyware and adware on your computer.
SP2 has a ton of anti-adaware programs and anti-pop-up programs. On default increase your security to the max settings. Goggle toolbar will take care of the one or two that get by SP2.

Worsey gave this great program called pest control. Try it out. Let me know if you want me to share it.

try checking out http://www.pchell.com
they give specific instructions on cleaning out specific forms of spyware/adware

adaware does not catch everything. I would have to agree with the comment made about spysweeper. It is a really good program
