Does anyone have a clue what the midterm will be over? Last week, the TA's made a passing reference to it and how many points it would be worth, but they didn't really have a clue what it would be about. Anyone with pointers?

I got a 96 on the Chem 2 midterm last year.

Be very familiar with the experiments you've done thus far. Know the methodology behind the experiments (i.e. why you did them in the first place), be able to tell what chemical reaction takes place, and be able to answer conceptual questions about the experiments and the conclusions you drew from them.

Also, be very familiar with your lab room. Know the locations of all the hoods, safety showers, eye washes, fire extinguishers, fire blankets, chemical disposal stations, (etc...know where everything is) and be able to label them on a floor plan. Know also where your lab bench is. (I'm serious.)

That's basically it. Don't sweat too much about it--review your experiments and know where your lab equipment is, and you're cool.

Its very easy. Just look over your quizzes from the labs, and you should do fine. Do pretty much everything else Bag said too. Honestly though, it was probably the easiest midterm I've ever had. The only 2 points that I missed were on the question asking what's in the Desicooler. To this day, I still am not sure, but I THINK it might be CaCl2. I'm sure some ChemE will jump in and correct me if I'm wrong.

Our TA said to review all of the labs that have been returned and know the chemical reations that took place in each. Be prepared for questions from the quizes and Pre-Labs. He hinted to room layout, but after what bagvwr said, I'd bet my left nut that we need to know the lab floor plan.
Also, emphasis on the zinc washer lab (was a fifty point lab).

Does anyone know exactly what we have to turn in for the reactor lab?

when they tell you that it's only over the labs before the reactor one, they lie. there will be, more than likely, a question from the reactor lab.
