Post subject: Modded XBoxes w/ Xenium ICE Chip
PostPosted: Tue 10-19-2004 10:22PM

Source: Somewhere
I was wondering if anyone has used the Xenium ICE gen 4 chip in their XBoxes and had any luck with them. I know they are are a newer chip with not as much documentation as previous gen chips, so I was wondering if anyone has any good info on these chips as I just purchased and installed mine in about 40 minutes but can't find a bios which is the right size for the Xenium ICE (everyone I see is 1027kb as opposed to 1024kb). xbins, SADCHUB, and others are all yielding the same bios which XBTool won't recognize due to an incorrect file size and yields an odd error when trying to upgrade.

I have a Xenium in my xbox, and I dont' think you need those 1024kb BIOS files. You can get some 256kb BIOS images that work just fine from xbins. With the Xenium you don't have to make all the bios images 1024kb, it handles it automatically.

Word of advice though, don't upgrade the firmware on the thing unless you have a damn good reason. Mine died when i upgraded to the 2.0 beta OS release so i'm running from a softmod right now :(

No offense...but it was a beta release. What did you expect?

Have you done any research to see if your chip is completely dead?

not really, it was crashing a lot and I didn't really want to mess with it, so I just disconnected it from the LPC port and softmodded. I'm sure the chip itself is fine, if i can break it of its infininate loop

Would you mind giving me the chance at breaking that loop?

sure, go right ahead. Let me hook it back into the box and see if it has snapped out of it

I've been playing around with it all day, and it's been throwing out kernal panics like crazy. That and when i actully had it booting to its OS, loading a BIOS file to cause it to reboot. I wonder if it's a problem with the d0 point, but i don't have any way to verify that
