Alright, I'm not sure if any of you Rolla Students are still interested in playing Halo competetitively, but here is the info for the farewell Halo tournament at SMS:
Quote:
Here is all the information regarding how the tournament is going to be run:
-Date: October 30, 2004 in the Plaster Student Union Ballroom West.
-There are three games that players can sign up for: 4 versus 4 Slayer, 4 versus 4 Capture the Flag, and 2 versus 2 Slayer. The times that these tournaments start are 10:00a.m., 3:00p.m., and 7:00p.m., respectively. Players are asked to arrive early to sign in.
-Players can sign up to play in any or all of the games, but can only sign up for each one once (or else they might end up playing themselves).
-All of the settings and vehicles and weapons that will be used in the games are Default to each map (how they are when you first turn on the game).
-Each team is guaranteed at least two games, and from these two games the advancing teams will enter a single elimination bracket.
-There will be no time limit for the Slayer games (the 4v4 and 2v2) but there will be a time limit for the Capture the Flag games, which has not been determined yet and depends on the number of teams that sign up.
-Both the 4v4 and 2v2 Slayer games will go to a score of 50, the Capture the Flag game will go to 3 points, with ties being broken by kills. The CTF game style is CTF Pro, so flags must be at one's base in order to score.
-The maps that will be used are secret and will be selected specifically for that particular round, but all teams will play in the same map in the same round.
-Players are asked to bring their own controllers because there are a lot of different controllers on the market and everyone has their favorite.
-Players will have about five minutes before each round to set up their characters so they can have the game controls they want.
-Stats will be kept for each game and there will be individual awards given based on the stats so that players who do not advance in the tournament can still win a trophy if their individual performance was good enough (or bad enough).
-Timers will not be allowed during the games.
-The entry fee for the games is $5.00 a person per game, and all teams must be completely filled or else they are disqualified (it is an advantage sometimes to have less people on your team), so that is $20.00 a team for the 4v4 and $10.00 a team for the 2v2.
-ANY college student, no matter where they are from, can participate. No high school students or alumni, it is an intercollegiate tournament. Future tournaments may be open to all the public.
-Prize money will be determined on the number of teams playing, so the larger the turnout the bigger the prizes for first, second, and third. First place teams will receive trophies as well to represent their achievement, and second and third place will receive engraved silver and bronze medals. Individual award winners will not receive any monetary award, but there will be an individualized trophy given to them.
-Registration deadline is October 29, 2004 at 10:00p.m..
-Players may register by either e-mailing me at jam454s@smsu.edu and requesting a registration form, or picking one up at Hutchens House Front Desk, and then filling them out and returning the form with the entry fees to either the Front Desk or me personally.
-Awards will be given at the end of each game.
-There will be about an hour break between the three games, so that players participating in all three may get something to eat or take care of whatever.
-At this time, no spectators will be allowed to attend due to limited space in the West Ballroom. Depending on the number of registered teams, this may and probably will change.
The attendance expection from SMS is about 250. But I have had interest from Rolla, Mizzou, Truman, University of Kansas, and Arkansas as well, so there may be quite the competition there. And, yes, this is the farewell tournament to HALO 1, I am calling it the finale.
Print out the attatched form and distribute it to whomever you want and get it in with the entry fees to me before October 29th.
Thanks for your interest, hope to hear from you and have solid Rolla representation.
Rolla took sweeps! Mine and TDubs's team took the 4v4 slayer and 4v4 CTF. We just couldn't get it done in the 2v2 though, going out to a SMS team. Local Rolla boys from clan TH-3 stepped it up hardcore style for us though and took the 2v2 slayer quiet convincingly.
Don't forget about that manwe character....falling tres from the top of prisoner spins 180 degrees pulls out his sniper and no scope domes someone on the top catwalk....SIIICK!!
